Cause

Stretching leg is a hereditary condition that reveals itself from the age of six weeks.

Description

Stretching leg is a sporadically inherited hereditary disorder in which the tarsal joint cannot be bent.
The condition usually manifests itself at a young age, but not below the age of six weeks. In light cases the claw is still on the ground. When there are severe cramps, the claw points backwards.  If both legs are affected, the animals are laid down a lot.

Treatment

In extremely severe cases the cramping condition can be resolved surgically.
